Robert Lee Smith
“Roberto” “Pilo”
Robert Lee Smith, 69, of San Benito, TX passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Chi St. Luke’s Health Baylor Medical Center in Houston, TX surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 25, 1949 in Hebbronville, TX to James Edward and Lilia Smith.
Robert worked as an operator for Air Liquide for 15 years. He attended Life Foursquare Church in Angleton. He was part of the Texas Minute Men and recently worked as a missionary with Next Step Project, Voice for the Nations in Mexico.
Robert was united in marriage to Tammy Godfrey on July 7, 2016. They met in Mexico while Robert was volunteering his time teaching welding to orphans. After marrying, Robert joined Tammy on the mission field. They worked with orphans, churches, schools and other missionaries around the world and touched many lives with their ministry.
Robert loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, especially his Sturgis trips with son, Corey. When Corey and April were growing up, they would all jump in the car and go for a late night ride and enjoy the peaceful scenery. Something Corey and April still enjoy doing to this day.
