Rafael Ramirez, Sr., 67, of Sweeny passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 14, 2018. He was born February 23, 1951 to Isabel and Agustina Ramirez in Harlingen, TX.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and an active member of AA, being proud of his sobriety of over 8 years. He was an avid Astros and Texans fan who loved his family, God, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and collecting cars, especially corvettes. He was a warm hearted man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel Ramirez and Agustina Hernandez; son, Rafael Ramirez, Jr. and brother, Apolinar Martinez.
He is survived by his son, Ricardo Ramirez of Woodville, TX; daughters, Maria Espinoza and husband Salomon of Jones Creek and Chief Master Sargent Suzanne Ramirez of San Antonio, TX; sister, Cipriana Ortega of Donna, TX; grandchildren, Elizabeth Espinoza and Miranda Ramirez; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Villarreal, Pablo Ortega, George Ortega, Jesus Ortega, Oscar Briones and Jim Heard.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday June 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny, TX with Father Daniel S. Baguio officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny, TX.
