Funeral services for Maxine Davis, 88, of West Columbia will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 23460 FM 1301, West Columbia, TX with Rev. Donnell A. Johnson, Sr. officiating and Pastor Arthur Ferguson eulogizing.  Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery in West Columbia, TX.

She passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Woodlake Nursing Center in Clute, TX.

She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. church and was President of the Usher Board.  She loved to cook, bake, watch Wheel of Fortune and spend time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Abbie Johnson; husband, Jodie Davis; brothers, Clyde Johnson and Samuel L. Johnson; sister Arthur Mae Dickson; daughters, Myrtle L. Bates and Abbie Johnson McDowell; grandsons, Brian Thomas, Sr., Rodney Johnson and Carl Lee McDowell; granddaughter, Nicoshia Bates; great granddaughter, LaTriska Hall; son-in-law, Robert Dixon; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Johnson and Dorothy M. Johnson.   

She is survived by her son, Charles Johnson, Sr. (Carolyn), Freeport; daughters, Audrey Dixon, Brazoria, Thelma Earls (Leon), Freeport; grandchildren, Aretha Abioye (Awofe), Corey L. Johnson, Sr. (Sharon), Charles Johnson, Jr., all of Houston,  Tina Dixon, West Columbia, Audra Thomas, Houston, Larry A. Thomas, Jr., Austin, Dorothy Jean Johnson, Wichita Falls, TX, Alvin Don Bates, Jr., Freeport; son-in-law, Alvin Don Bates, Sr.(Liz), Freeport; goddaughter, Addie Pearl Williams, Lenexa, Kansas; special friends, Joyce Robinson, Mildred Mathews, Julia Hall, Shirley Farrington, Yvonne Johnson, Bridgett and Dwayne Shaw, Judith and Cal Conway; and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Frank Petteway, Jr., Tim Copeland, Lloyd Knowles, Cal Conway, Joe Williams and Michael T. Allen.

Visitation will be Friday, February 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.  A viewing will be at St. Paul A.M.E. Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  There will be no viewing afterwards.
