Mamie Lou (Woodard) Smith

Funeral services for Mamie Lou Smith, 87, of Cedar Lake will be Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Pastor Kenneth W. Bree, eulogist and Rev. Andrew Floyd, officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery in Cedar Lake, Texas.

She passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Pearland Medical Center in Pearland, TX.

She was an active member of Bethlehem Christian Church where she served as a choir member and on the fundraising committee. She was a hair dresser, seamstress, enjoyed cooking and traveling the world. She also enjoyed sports, working the polls as a Voter Registrar, collected donations for the March of Dimes and was an advocate in motivating people in the community to get out and vote.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Cleveland and Matilda Woodard; brothers, Cleveland Woodard, Vernon Woodard and Rosenbert (Bo) Woodard; sisters, Maggie Wright and Juanita Murphy; son, Herman Wright, Jr. and grandson, Arron Harkless, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; devoted husband, Robert L. Smith, Sr.; daughters, Ethel Harkless, Barbara Smith, Marilyn Dellahoussaye (Gregory) and Faye Johnson (Garland); sons, Robert Smith, Jr., Deacon James Wright (Lou Ella), Deacon Woodard Smith (Melanie), Ira Smith (Arlene), John Smith (Clarissa) and Kelley Smith (Trina); sister, Margaret Brown, 35 grandchildren, host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Robert L. Smith Jr., Deacon James R. Wright, Deacon Woodard L. Smith, Gregory Dellahoussaye, Kelley D. Smith, John E. Smith, Ira D. Smith, Sr. and Garland Johnson, Sr.

Visitation will be Friday, December 1, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church on the day of service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be no viewing afterward.
