Funeral services for John D. Petteway, Sr., 75, of Cedar Lake will be Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church in Cedar Lake with Rev. Kenneth Bree officiating. Burial will follow at Petteway Cemetery in Cedar Lake, TX.
He passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX.
John D. was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church where he served on the Deacon Board. He loved rodeos. His hobbies were raising livestock show animals, fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer Petteway, Sr. and Eliza Petteway and brother, Wilmer Petteway, Jr.
John D. leaves to cherish his memories; his loving and devoted wife, Georgia M. Petteway of Cedar Lake; sons, John D. Petteway, Jr. (Ana) of Cedar Lake and Robert J. Petteway (Stanshelle) of Angleton; daughters, Clarissa Petteway-Smith (John) of Brazoria, Darla Petteway and Yvonne Williams (James) both of Rosharon; grandson he raised, John E. Petteway (Michelle) of Lake Jackson; brother, Frank H. Petteway, Sr. (Martha), Brazoria; grandchildren, John Edward, Mikeal, Seven, Dominique, Shemerrylyn, Shawn, Tremain, Jarmain and Darrwin; 20 great grandchildren; special cousins, Reva Jean Givens and Evelyn Wiggins; good friends, Herman “Honcho” Fields, Clifford “C.D.” Bernard, Jr., John L. Prince and Harvey Kersh; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Dominique Petteway, Mikeal Smith, Reginald Petteway, Frank Petteway, Jr., Wilmer Petteway, III, Clifford Bernard, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Bethlehem Christian Church.
Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church on the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be no viewing afterward.
