Funeral service for Ida Mae Bivens, 79, of Brazoria will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Temple A.M.E. Church in Brazoria with Bishop Charles Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Memorial Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.
She departed from this life on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson, Texas. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, James Woodard and Armither Bivens; father, Wilson Jones; mother, Mary Ann McCardell; son, Charles Woodard; and sisters, Addie Mae Jones, Vivian Crossley, Carolyn Stone, Ester Williams, Rosa Robertson and Thelma Sanchez.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons, Roland Woodard (Bonita), John Wayne Woodard, and Arthur “Dorell” Woodard (Karen) all of Brazoria, Kelvin Woodard, Lake Jackson and James Woodard, Jr. (Kay), Hempstead; stepson, Jerome Brown (Wilma) from Cedar Lake; daughters, Loretta Layman (Larry), Julia Woodard-Harris (Troy), Delicia Woodard Parson (Nevin), Mary “Liz” Woodard, Jeraldean Woodard all of Brazoria; Lillie “Dian” Powell from Bay City, Addie “Peaches” Woodard-Ford (Clark), Angleton and Marilyn Woodard-Kuykendall of Waco, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; Aunts Frankie Jackson of San Francisco, Frances Jammer of Houston, Willie Jammer and Cora Goodwin of Brazoria; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Shonntuane Woodard, RoiShon Jones, Devin Woodard, Nevin Parson, Jr., James David Woodard, III and Timothy Woodard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dorell Woodard, John Wayne Woodard, Kelvin Woodard, Roland Woodard, James Woodard, Jr., Michael Robinson, Cedric Ford, Jelmon Woodard and Jerome Brown.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church on Thursday, December 5, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be no viewing afterward.
