Funeral services for Howard Burton, 58, of Jones Creek will be Monday, March 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Creek Baptist Church, 7334 SH 36, Jones Creek with Rev. Larry Griggs officiating and Pastor Ondra D. Waddy eulogizing. Burial will follow at Oakland Community Cemetery in Jones Creek, Texas.
He passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Luke Hospital in Houston, Texas.
He enjoyed trail riding with the Mighty Fine Trail Riders, watching Brazosport Exporters basketball games and an avid Houston Texan fan. He was a softball coach. He graduated with the Class of 1978 from Brazosport High School. He sung in gospel groups and played the drums.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Harry and Gladys Burton; sisters, Bettie Thompson and Bobbie Bryant; brother-in-law, Rogers Nichols; godparents, Herman and Annie Nelson.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife of 15 years, Tracey Burton, Jones Creek; sons, Julian “Buck” Lunford, West Columbia, Jeremy Hobbs, Cameron Hobbs, Aaron Hobbs (Virdianna Cardenas) and Joshua Hobbs all of Freeport; daughters, Shana Burton (Britany Bailey), Freeport, Candace Linford, St. Augistine, Florida and Ashley Hobbs (Kenneth Duby), Midland; brothers, Wallace Burton, Richwood and Robert Burton (Gloria), Brazoria; sisters, Shirley Amboree (J.C.), Freeport, Gladys Mack (Randolph), Brazoria and Gwendolyn Nichols, Katy; 4 grandchildren, 3 godchildren; good friends, Joe Boozy and Roger Trevino, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Marlin Lincoln, Anthony Bess, Alex Bryant, Quinton Burton. Troy Amboree and Rogers D. Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brazosport High School Basketball Team.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria.
