Donald George, Sr. "Don" Obituary

Funeral services for Donald Ray George, Sr., 76, of West Columbia will be Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, West Columbia, Texas with Pastor Arthur Ferguson eulogist and Pastor Felton Joseph officiant.

He passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, surrounded by his family, at CHI St. Luke’s Health Brazosport in Lake Jackson, Texas.

He was a devoted member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church. He was a 1961 graduate of Charlie Brown High School. He attended Wharton Jr. College and received an Associate Degree in Computer Science. He was a veteran of the US Army and served three years in Anchorage, Alaska as a Drill Sergeant. He was a Mason of the Brazoria Chapter. He was also a candidate for Mayor of West Columbia, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert, Sr. and Eunice George; brothers, Robert George, Jr., Arthur George, Odis George,Robert Hunter and Kenneth Myles.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; Herman Grice (Maggie) College Station, Donald “Ebo” George, Jr. (Amy), Manvel and Desmond George, Angleton; raised as a son, Charles Morgan (Christina), Alvin sisters, Janice Sam, Rosharon, Lillie Johnson  and Kasandra Jones both of Clute; sisters-in-law, Rita George, Brazoria and Diane George, West Columbia; good friends, Ricky Washington, James Robinson, Clark Woodson, Lloyd Knowles, Kerry Jones (deceased) and Terry Mack; 11 grandchildren, host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Arthur Casey George, Robert George, Jr., Lester George, Kirk Gupton, Patrick Johnson and Jamie Tims.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Brown High School Class of 1961.

Visitation will be Friday, January 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church on the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time. There will be no viewing afterward.
