Dessie Ree (Jones) McBeth

Funeral services for Sis. Dessie Ree McBeth, 93, resident of Cypress Wood Care Center in Angleton, Texas. formerly of Brazoria, Texas will be Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria with Elder Roland K. Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at Mims Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

She passed away on July 11, 2019, at Jennie Sealy UTMB Galveston, Texas.

Sis. Dessie Ree McBeth, moved to Galveston, Texas in the 1940s. She formerly resided in Dickinson, Texas for many years. She was an employee of many families in the area. She also worked for Dickinson Independent School District and Clear Creek Independent School District. She attended the New Jerusalem Baptist Church.  She also lived in Berkeley, California and worked for the New Light Senior Center for many years, volunteered at the South Berkeley YMCA, City of Berkeley and St Joseph the Worker School. She moved back to Texas and lived in the Sunny Side, Blue Ridge section of Houston, Texas, before moving to Brazoria, Texas. In 2017 she resided in the Cypress Wood Care Center in Angleton, Texas.

She is preceeded in death by her father, William Jones, her mother Bertha Jones, her thirteen brothers and sisters. her husband, Reverend Abraham McBeth, Sr, her sons, Reverend Abraham McBeth, Jr and George T. McBeth; grandson, Daryl Caldwell and goddaughter, Pamela Hayes.

Sis Dessie Ree McBeth, leaves to cherish her memories; sisters, Alice Smith, of Collins Mississippi and Lois Cooper of Magee, Mississippi, daughters: Carolyn (Kenneth Simple) of Angleton, Odella Caldwell, of Brazoria and Ella (Samuel Johnson) of Cypress, goddaughter: Stephanie (Charles O'Neal) of Sweeny;  grandchildren, Eric Simple (Jennifer), Darinda (O'Neal Jackson), Kenneth C Simple (Jewel), Samuel Johnson, III (Tajsha), and Chelsea Johnson, great grands: DeZerra, Ericka, JaNeal, Darius, Sydney, Angel, Angela, and O'Neal, III, a host of nephews, nieces, other family members and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Simple, Darius Simple, Kenneth C. Simple, Brandon Polk, Jerry Woodard, Willie Myles, Darnell Mack and Shedrack Helms.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Hall, Raymond Hall, Hollis Hall, Terry Smith, O'Neal Jackson, III,   O'Neal Jackson, Jr,,   Kenneth Simple, Samuel L. Johnson, Jr.,   Samuel L. Johnson, III,  Matthew Evans and Jason Norris.

Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church on the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There will be no viewing afterward.
