Funeral services for Desmond Ray Gaskin, 47, of Clute, formerly of Edna, TX, will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 604 Martin Luther King, Edna, TX with Rev. Walter L. Gant, Jr., Presiding and Rev. Ondra D. Waddy, Officiating. Burial will follow at Hines Cemetery in Edna, TX.

He passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

“Des” was a member of First United Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport. He was a part of the Christians in Action Ministry and a Trustee.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, studying God’s word and socializing with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred Edwards, Minnie Frances Stovall, Irdean Gaskin and Ruth Stovall Gaskin.

He is survived by his parents, Billy Ray and Alfreeda Gaskin, Edna, TX; brother, Douglas Gaskin (Leigh), Rosharon, TX; sisters, Deirdra Gaskin, Victoria, TX, Dana Gaskin, Edna, TX; and a host of nephews, nieces, fellow church members, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Darrell Adell, Mike Bailey, Scotty Bailey, Richard Garcia, Dennis Edwards and Horace Callis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Members, Trustee & Deacons of First United Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX.  There will also be viewing at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
