Deacon Clarence "C.W." Harold Wright, Jr.

Funeral services for Deacon Clarence Harold Wright, Jr., 71, of Alvin will be Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, 908 North 2nd St. in Alvin with Pastor Donald Archie, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Brazoria, TX.

He passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Bay Area Regional Medical Center in Webster, TX.

An active member of the church, C.W. was on the Deacon Board, Finance Committee, Maintenance, a past Choir member and a member of the Brotherhood.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, was an avid Houston Oilers fan and enjoyed the rodeo.  He was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School in the Class of 1964.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clarence Wright, Sr. and Maggie Wright.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Verma Edison Wright of Alvin; sons, Clarence Christopher Wright (Jennifer) of Alvin and Cedric Shawn Wright (Christine) of Austin; daughter, Christi TaNae Wright of Alvin; brothers, Charlie Wright (JoAnn) of Houston, Leonard Wright (Angela) of Missouri City and Richard Wright (Sheila) of Brazoria; sisters, Louise Crear (Roy) of La Marque, Sophie Davis (Hurburt) of Lake Jackson and Carrie Robertson (Phil) of Angleton; brother-in-law, Wilbur Dale (Leilani) of Bay City; sisters-in-law, Audrey Rollins (Willie) of Van Vleck, Sharon Sidney of Missouri City and Mary Hall (John) of Austin; 4 grandchildren, Brayden Wright, Korrigan Wright and Madelynn Wright, all of Alvin and Alexa Wright of Austin and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Kelvin Mangum, Jason Wright, Hurbert Davis, Ronald Sidney, Orrick Sidney, and Wayne King.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence “Chris” Wright, Cedric Wright, Brayden Wright, Richard Wright, Charlie Wright, Leonard Wright, Steven Franklin, Jacsen King, Robert Thornton, Jr., Robert Thornton, Sr., LeVan Richardson, Gerry Flannel, Rueben Mason, Herb Davis, and Larry Paige.

Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 E. Mulberry in Angleton and on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.  There will be no viewing afterward.
