Funeral services for Minister Clayton Johnson, Sr., 63, of Richwood will be Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mount Zion Church in Brazoria with Dr. Melvin Johnson eulogist and Pastor Anthony Hall officiating.  Burial will follow at Galilee Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

He passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas.

He was a member of Heart of Christ Church. He attended Columbia High School and graduated with the class of 1974. He enjoyed fishing, attending football games and volunteering feeding the homeless. His favorite football team was the Texans.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; his loving and devoted wife of 4 years, Valarie Johnson, Richwood; sons, Clayton Lee Johnson, Jr., Freeport, Terrance Woodard, Brazoria and Cory Robertson, Alto; step-sons, Michael Edwards, Brazoria, Perry Lux, Jr., San Marcos and Andrew Lux (Kristin), Arizona; daughters, LaKisha Vollbaum and Caniece Johnson both of Freeport, Candie Addison (Vernon) and Crystal Johnson both of Lake Jackson and Amber Robertson, Alto and Ashley Vollbaum, Lake Jackson; step-daughters, Krystal Meyers (Kenya), Katy, Karetta Lux, Clute and Karena Lux, Angleton; step-father, Melvin Grice (Espanola), Brazoria; brothers, Ben C. Johnson, Jr., Freeport, Charlie Johnson, Seabrook, Michael Johnson and Gregory Johnson (Linda) both of Raywood; sisters, Linda Anderson (Henry), Judie A. Simmons (Raymond) and  Debra Grice all of Angleton, Melvin Jean Beasley, Clute and Sybil Mason (Donald), Humble; aunts, Jeanette Peterson, Alvin, Henrietta Monroe, Angleton and Ruth May, Angleton; uncles, Harold May, Crosby and James May, Alvin; father-in-law, Rev. Moran Collier, Brazoria; 27 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Richard Alexander, Tom Banks, Charlie Jackson, George Stephen, Melvin Wilson, Jr. and Darrell Wayne Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be sons, grandsons, nephews, brothers-in-law, Class of 1974 and Deacons of Heart of Christ Church.

Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. There will be viewing at the church on the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. only. There will be no viewing afterward.
