Billy Gene Wood

Billy Gene Wood, 61 of Pampa, Texas formerly of Brazoria passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, Texas. He was born on May 21, 1958 in Danbury, Texas to Barnett and Mary Lee Wood.

He was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed cooking, especially on the grill. Billy could repair, build and construct just about anything. If it needed to be fixed, he could make it happen, even if that fixing was a smile you needed on your face. He enjoyed cars, engines, vehicle restoration and just admiring the class and muscle concerning vehicles. Billy thoroughly enjoyed his grandkids which call him “Granpappy” he loved them so much that he once moved to Shreveport, Louisiana; another time to Georgetown, Idaho and in 2018 he moved to Pampa, Texas to be near them. One thing was certain, even at 61 years young,  Billy still had a “heart of a child” when it came to making jokes and just having fun. Most importantly Billy loved and trusted his Lord Jesus Christ. Even to the end of his last day he never quit reminding others that no matter what… God Is In Control!

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Wood and his parents.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories; loving and devoted son, Kevin Wood and wife Tricia of Pampa; sisters, Louise Schuelke of Del Rio, Alina Kilsby of Angleton and Brenda Benoit of West Columbia; brother, Bob Wood of Del Rio; grandchildren, Daisy Wood, Kevin Wood Jr., and Billy Wood all of Pampa; good friends, Paul Turner and Dennis and Dorothy Roberson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria with Pastor Sergio Urrutia officiant and eulogist. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

Family will receive friends same day of service from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
