Hensley Eugene Brown

Hensley Eugene Brown, age 83, of Brazoria, passed away on August 12, 2017. He was born on December 5, 1933 in Childress, Texas to parents, Eugene Brown and Katie Lee Pickering.

Hensley served his country in the U.S. Air Force 1956-1976, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. While serving in the 1912th Communications Squadron stationed at Olmstead AFB, Pennsylvania where he met and married his wife of 52 years on February 14th, 1959, Ruth Anna Drayer of Middletown, Pennsylvania, who preceded him in death, (Jan 7, 1940-Sept 11, 2011).

The first of their three children, Lisa Rochelle Brown was born December 6th 1959, in Pennsylvania. Later Hensley was transferred to Hawaii where he served with the 1502d Air transport wing, at Hickmon AFB. While stationed in Hawaii their second child, Lee Brown was born June 15th 1963. Their third child Niki Lyn Brown was born in Albuquerque, NM July 1. 1970, while Hensley served at the Head Quarters of the Air Force Special Weapons Center, as a Command and Control Technician. In 1973 Hensley and the family moved to Riverside California when Hensley was transferred to the March air force base, serving in the HQ 15AF Strategic Air Command. Hensley retired from the Air Force in 1976, having obtained the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 1 oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 oak leaf clusters. 

In 1982, Hensley moved his wife and youngest school age daughter Niki to Jones Creek, Texas. His son, Brazoria resident Lee Brown and Hensley’s eldest daughter Lisa also moved to Texas with her husband. Hensley moved to Brazoria in 1987 and worked 10 years as corrections officer for TDCJ. Hensley was ordained minister, and he loved singing. His hobbies were cooking brisket, fishing, watching tv, going to the movies, going out to eat and dinner parties.

He is survived by his three children, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 

Daughter Lisa (Brown) Rodriguez and husband Richard of Humble, TX, their 4 children; Richard Anthony, and wife Stephanie Rodriguez, children Richard Andrew and Ethan Lee, Erin Rachelle Rodriguez,  Joshua and wife Brittany Rodriguez, child Averie, Ashton Elise (Rodriguez), and predeceased husband George Gomez.

Son; Lee Brown and wife Ruth of Brazoria; their three children; Ashley and Husband Joshua Guffey, children; Olivia, Skylar, and Charlotte, Laura and husband Tim Morton, children Bentley and Ryleigh, Wade and wife Heather Brown, child, Owen. 

Daughter; Niki and Husband Rodney Welsch of Alvin TX;, children, Kaytlynn and Heather.

Hensley’s sisters, Janet Muffet, Julie Crock and brothers, David and Danny Brown.

Family will receive friends on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria from 4:00 p.m. until service time.

Memorial Service will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 5:00 p. m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria with Pastor Richard Rodriguez officiating.
