Funeral Services for Roland Jones Daniels, Sr., 66, of Freeport will be Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Family Life Church, 220 Lake Road, Lake Jackson Texas with Pastor J.V.Williams officiating and Pastor Eric D. Ramsey Sr., eulogizing. Burial will follow at Gulf Coast Cemetery in Clute, TX.

He passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson, TX.

Roland Daniels, Sr. was a local business owner and entrepreneur of 15 years at Daniels Corner in Freeport, Texas. "Pop" was a Heavy Equipment Operator for over 30 years for the City of Freeport. He was a member of New Life Church in Freeport and served as a groundkeeper and was a member of the choir. Earlier in life, he played Semi-pro baseball. He has won numerous awards and trophies for his pool skills. His hobbies were playing pool, dominoes, gardening, working with plants and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by, father, Walter Henry "T'Nynee" Jones Sr., mother, Alfredia Daniels, grandfather, Joe Tolbert, grandmother, Daisy "Dae" Tolbert, Father in law, Elijah Barefield Sr., mother in law, Birdie Ella Barefield, sisters, Vera Jessie and Naomi Hawkins, brothers, George "Punkin" Lewis, Larry "Box" Jones, John Henry Woodard, Leroy Lovick Daniels, brother in laws, Elijah Barefield Jr., Linda Barefield Austin, Ivan Austin, Gene Ware, Charles Lightbourn and Richard Merchant.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, of 41 years, Gwendolyn Barefield Daniels, Freeport; son, Roland Daniels, Jr. (Juanita), Freeport; daughters, Tammy Lynn Barefield, Houston, Wanda Barefield Simmons (Freddie Sr.), Lake Jackson, Rosalind Ramsey (Rev. Eric Sr.), Clute, Romona Daniels, Freeport; special niece, Tosha Courtney (Corey), Fort Worth, sisters, Johnnie Spaulding, Angleton, Hazel Lewis(Norman) Freeport, Patricia Lewis (Eugene) Freeport, Vickie Lightbourn, Freeport, Brenda Clark (Kenneth) Freeport, Lillian Gadson (Thomas), Lake Jackson, Linda Daniels ,Houston Shirley Johnson (Harry), Arlington, Rufaye Reed (Richard) Fort Worth, Walterine Merchant, Fort Worth, brother, Walter Jones Jr., Brazoria, brother-in-laws: Edwin Barefield and Kenneth Barefield, Freeport, sister-in-laws: Willie Nadine Barefield, Bay City and Birdie Barfield (Louis) Victoria,16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Troyce Lewis, Rondray Lewis, Nathan Lewis, Chris Lewis, Joe Spaulding, Curtis Spaulding, Richard Jones and Dave Marshall.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gomez Family, Terrance Lewis, Ivan Austin Jr., Kevin Austin Sr., Elijah Barefield III, Desmond Ware, Terry White, Dennis White, Frederick Johnson, Rashaad Merchant, Torre Campbell, Thurston Jones, Freddrick Carter II and Tommie Clewis.

Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at New Life Church, 207 East Park, Freeport, TX.  A wake service where friends and family will able to share their remarks, talk and reminisce about "Pop's" life, will be start at 6:00 p.m.
