Jessie B. "Man" Jackson, Jr.

Funeral Services for Jessie B. Jackson, Jr., 66, of Alvin, formally of Texas City will be Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 E. Mulberry, in Angleton, TX, with Rev. Steven King, officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria, Tx. .

He died on Monday, March 29, 2010, at Laurel Court in Alvin, Tx.

He enjoyed playing dominoes, cards and loved the scratch off.

Mr. Jessie was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jessie and Virginia Jackson Sr. wife, Dorothy Jackson; son, Jessie B. Jackson III; sister, Lavern Jackson-Griggs, nephews, Reginald Jackson and Michael Davis.

He is survived by his daughters, Daphne Luckey(Michael) and Laticia Jones(Andre) of Houston, Tx.; brothers, Ruben Davis Sr. of Fulshear, Tx. and Samuel Ray Jackson of Angleton; one aunt, Mary Jackson of San Antonio; sisters, Tessie Davis(Vergus) of Alvin and Martha Jule(Freddie) of Houston, Tx.; two uncles, Perry Jackson(Mae Ethel) of Alvin and Milton Mayberry of Richmond, Tx.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; special friend, Joe Louis Henderson of Texas City and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Charles Morgan, Michael Luckey, Donald George Jr., James Peterson, Michael Davis and Roderick Peterson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Vergus Davis Sr., Samuel Ray Jackson, Freddie Gordon, Milton Mayberry, Perry Jackson and Ruben Davis Sr.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 3, 2010, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton, TX. There will be no viewing afterward.

March 27, 2010

Julian Antonio Garcia, infant son of Freddy Garcia of Angleton and Maria Calvillo of Freeport, TX went home with the angels on, Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson, TX.

He is survived by his loving parents; grandparents, Jesus and Olga Calvillo of Freeport, Mike and Maria Reioux of Danbury and Norberto Garcia of Mexico; great grandparents, Josefina Calvillo of Sweeny, Eliza Zuniga and Herlinda Gonzales of Mexico; one brother, Adrian Anthony Garcia of Holiday Lakes and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Dixon Funeral Home, 2025 E. Mulberry, Angleton, Tx. 77515.

Mary Louise "Nanny" Bonner
March 22, 2010

Mary Louise Bonner, 61, of Brazoria passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was born in Brazoria TX to Lewis and Edna Pierce.

She loved animals, crocheting, sewing, cooking, camping and quiet walks in the park. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

She worked for many years at Dean-o’s in Brazoria.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Bonner of Brazoria; mother, Edna Meuth of Brazoria; daughter, Kathy Almond and husband James of Brazoria; brother, Marvin Pierce; sister, Myrtle David of Freeport; mother-in-law, Treba Bonner of Brazoria; sister-in-laws, Linda Hoffman and husband Mike of Brazoria, Jackie Stephens and Willie of Jasper; grandchildren, Crystal Moore, Timothy Hood, Kayla Hebert, all of Brazoria, Otto Graff III of Alvin; great grandchildren, Isaiah Durison, Elijah Durison, Aaliah Graff, Natalie Graff; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria with David Jordan officiating.

Mildred Marie (Patton) Potvin
March 22, 2010

Mildred Marie (Patton) Potvin, 96 years young, of Brazoria passed away quietly in the arms of her loving grandson, Kevin, on Monday, March 22, 2010. Ms. Mildred was born on May 15, 1913, in her parents home in Brazoria, TX and resided at the address throughout her life.

Ms. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Luther A. and Roena A. Patton, her husband, George Potvin, her daughter, Shirlee Till, son-in-law, David Till and her brother, Lester Potvin.

She is survived by her grandson, Kevin Till of Lake Jackson; two great grandchildren, David Austin and Kaitlin Alexia Till and their mother, Mary Cay (Till) Manning of Orlando, Florida and a host of friends.

Ms. Mildred was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brazoria. She remembered and told the story of the last official hanging in Brazoria County around 1940.

Her first job was Elevator Operator at the Brazoria County Courthouse. She went to the newly built law library at the Brazoria County Courthouse as the Head Librarian. In this position, she maintained and provided assistance to all County Lawyers, Judges, and anyone who needed her help or had questions regarding the law.

Ms. Mildred loved to be outdoors and loved to garden. She maintained her flower gardens at her home until she was physically no longer able to do so.

Graveside Services will be Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Brazoria Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas with Rev. Debbie Measells officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marlin Morris, Ken Kaspar, Curtis Kaspar, Terry Kaspar, Jerry Measells and Ted Kaspar.

Shirlee Jean (Potvin) Till
March 18, 2010

Shirlee Jean (Potvin) Till, 74, of Lake Jackson passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010. Shirlee was born on October 22, 1935 in Brazoria, TX to George and Mildred Potvin.

Shirlee was preceded in death by her father, George Potvin and her husband, David Till.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mildred (Patton) Potvin of Lake Jackson; son, Kevin Till of Lake Jackson; two grandchildren, David Austin and Kaitlin Alexia Till and their mother, Mary Cay (Till) Manning of Orlando, Florida.

Shirlee was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church in Brazoria, TX. She was a Ruling Elder and served as Church Treasurer for 10 years.

Shirlee Jean graduated from West Columbia High School in 1953. After graduation, she attended Wharton Jr. College, earning an Associate Degree. Following that, she graduated from Durham Business College in Houston, TX.

She had a long and prosperous career working for the Dow Chemical Co. Inc., for 39+ years. She began her journey in the Auditing Department and ended her journey in the Controllers Department. She worked really hard all of her life and when it came time for her to retire, she was a bit nervous. But after a short time, she loved it, “Retirement “ was good for her. She helped create the “Lunch Bunch” group from the Controllers Department. This was a group of friends who met once a month at Luby’s for lunch. We will miss her phone calls to remind us to be there.

Visitation will be Monday, March 22, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria, TX.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Brazoria, TX with Rev. Debbie Measells officiating. Burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Ted Kaspar, Ken Kaspar, George Burke, Jerry Measells, A.J. Jez and David Kotzbauer.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her Lunch Bunch group.

Charles Ira McFerrin
March 15, 2010

Charles Ira McFerrin, 56 of Brazoria passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Sweeny Community Hospital surrounded by his loving wife.

He was born September 2, 1953 in Angleton, Texas to Ira Daniel and Eva Ruth (Easterling) McFerrin. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and planting fruit trees. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Martha Ruth Lindsey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eleuteria McFerrin of Brazoria, mother, Eva Ruth McFerrin of Angleton, step-sons, Tony Cardenas, Jr. and Robert Cardenas, Sr. and wife Isabel both of Louise, Fabian Cardenas and wife Lorena and Ruben Cardenas both of El Campo, brother, Robert D. McFerrin of Buda, Tx, 10 step-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Service will be Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. Interment will follow at Angleton Cemetery in Angleton, TX.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria, TX.

Simon Pena Resendez
February 28, 2010

Simon Pena Resendez, 67 of Brazoria passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born on May 17, 1942 to Eduardo and Ramona Resendez in San Diego, Texas.

Simon worked for the City of Brazoria for over 17 years as a backhoe operator. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He enjoyed spending time watching them play. He loved barbecuing for his family and friends and he also loved plumbing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Eduardo Resendez, Jr., Chale Resendez and Larry Resendez and sister, Alicia Resendez.

He is survived by his loving wife; Alicia Resendez of Brazoria, sons, Robert Garcia of Clute, Ruben Garcia of Laredo, TX, Adam Resendez and wife Kelly of Brazoria, Robert Resendez and wife Estella of Alice, TX, Simon Resendez, Jr. and wife Gloria, Raul Resendez and wife Hope and Victor Resendez and wife Maria all of Lubbock, TX, daughters, Jessica Resendez of Brazoria, Dalia Morales and husband Danny and Maria Thomas Uriegas and husband Victor and Sarah Franklin and husband Allen all of Lubbock, TX and Rosa Resendez and special friend Lisa Huggins of Robstown, TX, brothers, Manuel Resendez and wife Esther of Brazoria and Servando Resendez and wife Marie of Robstown, TX, sisters, Lupe Resendez, Trina Lopez and husband Mauro and Oralia Perez all of Robstown, TX , brother-in-law, Jose Solis and wife Lisa of Holiday Lakes, sister-in-law, Maria Hernandez of Clute, special friend, Abel Villapando of Brazoria, 30 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral mass will be Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brazoria with Father Tin Pham officiating. Interment will follow at Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek, TX.

Pallbearers will be Ruben Garcia, Robert Garcia, Adam Resendez, Ramon Zarate, Simon Resendez, Jr. and Tyson Garza.

George Edward “Eddie” Davis
February 26, 2010

George Edward “Eddie” Davis, 72 of Brazoria passed away on February 26, 2010 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 1, 1937 in Pontiac, Illinois to Milton and Genva (Ruff) Davis.

George loved to fish and play with his great grandchildren along with his 6 grandchildren. He was truck driver for over 40 years. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving partner of 30 years, Bonnie Jean Davis of Brazoria, sisters, Diana Estes of Florida and Moana Davis of California, daughter, Amanda Dilley of Angleton, son; James Stewart of Rantoul Illinois, son; Michael Stewart of Layfette, Indiana, son; Raymond Stewart of Troy, New York, daughter; Debra of Florida, son, Jeff Davis of Illinois, daughter, Pam of Missouri and daughter, Misty of Louisiana.

He had 6 grandchildren, Nicole of Brazoria and family, Scott of Brazoria, Christina of Illinois, Alexander of Illinois, Melodie of Indiana and Raymond, Jr. of Pennsylvania. He had 2 great grandchildren, Blake James Edward and Baby Scottie of Brazoria.

He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Sara Stewart, step-father, Richard and sister, Linda Brown.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.

The Davis family would like to send special thanks to all the nurses on the 3rd floor and staff of Brazosport Regional Health System for all the loving care that was given to George E. Davis during his stay at the hospital.

She is survived by her loving parents; grandparents, Pamela Thomas of Pearland, Patti Garza of Angleton, Billy Ray Pierce Jr of Angleton; great grandparents, Ada Pierce(Melvin Mitchell) of Angleton, Lisa Alcoce(Pedro) of Angleton, Hallie Rogers(Floyd) of Rosharon, and Billy Ray Pierce Sr.(Mary) of Angleton; great great grandparent, Emma Johnson of Angleton; aunts, Billyssia Pierce of Houston, Natasha Garza of Angleton and Bianca Pierce of Pearland; uncles, Ralph Cooper of Houston, Rayland Thomas of Pearland and a host of other loving relatives.

Mommy and Daddy love you princess.

Glenn Harvle Vernor
February 13, 2010

Glenn Harvle Vernor, 82 was born to Jay and Hester Vernor on February 6, 1928 in Camp Wood, Texas and passed away at home in Brazoria on February 13, 2010.

He married his loving wife, Wilma Jean Sanders, February of 1950. They lived in Camp Wood-Uvalde area for the first five years of their married lives before moving to the Brazosport area in 1955. They recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.

He worked for Dow Chemical as an operator for 32 years before retiring and had several successful businesses in his lifetime, including Vernor’s Farm and Ranch Supply. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and raising a wide variety of animals.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Hester Vernor, sisters, Emma Lee Webb, Bonnie Rummel and Rita Hubble, brothers, Clarence Vernor, Johnny Vernor and Robert “Dugan” Vernor and son, Perry Lyndel Vernor.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Vernor, sons, Gary Vernor and wife Becky, Ricki Vernor and wife Kay and David Vernor and wife Dale, grandchildren, Shelby Vernor and wife Courtney, Cindy Mitchell and husband Chris, Curtis Vernor and wife Ani, Charles Vernor, Ross Vernor and Phillip Vernor, step-grandchildren, Amanda DeLeon, Lisa DeLeon, Stephanie DeLeon and Martin DeLeon.

Glenn will be missed greatly by his family and friends and will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind heart and sense of humor.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Brazoria with the funeral following at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Homes, Hwy 55 in Camp Wood, TX. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Camp Wood, TX.
