Wilma Carolyn Malsbary

Wilma Carolyn Malsbary, 69 of Brazoria formerly of Pasadena passed away on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born May 30, 1938 to William and Jennie Vee Malsbary in San Francisco, California.

Wilma enjoyed reading the bible and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons, Lee Tettleton, II of Braoria and Austin Wayne Pirkle and wife Anna of Pasadena, daughter, Gail Lynn Sevey and husband Gene of Hines, Oregon, brother, Allen Leo Malsbary, Sr. and wife Donna Mae of Johnson City, Oregon, sister, Aldean Marie Wilman and husband Edward Kenneth of Portland, Oregon, 7 grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Teresa “T” Thomas Jones, 55, of Clute will be Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 833 CR 148, Bay City, TX with Rev. K.W. Bree officiating and Pastor. M. Louis Jones Eulogizing. Burial will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.

She passed away, Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson, TX.

“T” loved working in the church, working in her flower garden and taking care of her special poodle ‘Robert’. She was a collector of glassware and angels. Teresa worked at Intermedic Sulyer for 21 years and went to Brazosport College where she received her Associate Degree.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Lula B. Thomas; grandmother, Emma Lunford; brothers, Robert (Bubba) Thomas, Jr. & Hardy Eugene Thomas.

She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Pastor M. Louis Jones of Clute; brothers, Donald Ray Thomas of Angleton, Larry Thomas of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Patricia Fields (Henry) of Clute; father-in-law, Pastor A. Louis Jones Sr. (Rachel) of Beaumont; special cousin, Doris Jones of Freeport; John Paul Phillips (Letrease) of Bay City; sister-in-laws, Rhoda Barnes (Rev. De’Andrea) of Rosenberg, Reba Stephney of Portland, OR, Tavia Jones of Houston, TX and Candice Jones of Houston; brother-in-laws, Guy Jones, Brandon Jones and Jason Jones, all of Houston; and a host of nephews, nieces other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Anthony Lee Jones, 36 of Houston will be Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 9302 CR 318, Brazoria with Rev. Ray Bonner, eulogizing and Rev. Kenneth Jones, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Brazoria.

He died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Houston, Texas.

He attended Brazoswood High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, basketball, football and he also enjoyed playing his playstation.

He is survived by his father, Lee Andrew Jones, Jr. of Missouri City; his mother, Birdie Smith of Houston; his wife, Farshaon Awosanya; one son, Samuel Awosanya of Houston; grandmother, Oris Bell Jones of Brazoria; mother-in-law, Candizia Lott of Houston; father-in-law, H.B. Fleming of Houston; three brothers, Andrew MacNeil Jones, Kashawn Jones and Kerwin Jones, all of Houston; three sisters, Donna Lee (Mike) of Dallas, Telsa Fisher (Henry) of Fresno and Sharon Jones of Houston and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Henry Fisher, Jr., Kashawn Jones, Mark Hunter, Patrick Hall, Calvin Boniaby and Samuel Awosanya.

Funeral services for Bridgett Evette Dudley, 42, of Angleton will be Friday, March 21, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Angleton with the Rev. T.W. Hicks officiating.

Burial will follow at Blue Lake Cemetery in Angleton, Texas.

She died Monday, March 17, 2008, at Cypress Woods Care Center in Angleton, Texas.

She was Baptist by faith early in life. She will be most remembered for her loving spirit.

Bridgett was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joe and Allie Dudley.

She is survived by six brothers, David Dudley (Lola) of Angleton, Calvin Dudley (Veronica) of Lake Jackson, Joe Lee Dudley, Golden Jackson, Tom Jackson and Van Rogers, all of Houston; three sisters, Emma Dudley, Helen Jackson and Terry Dudley, all of Houston; aunt, Lorene Martin of Houston; and other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Calvin Dudley, Edward Mills, Ryan Dudley and friends of the family.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Dudley, Joe Lee Dudley, Golden Jackson, Tom Jackson and Van Rogers.

She died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Brazosport Regional Health Care System in Lake Jackson, Tx.

Chris’ religious origin began as a youth at Mount Chapel A.M.E. Church in Jones, LA. Upon becoming a Texas resident, she attended Bethel Baptist Church in Freeport, Tx.
Chris’ strength was the ability to organize with peak perfection. Always the selfless giver, she nurtured and cared for a number of area children. She had a pure innocence that made her the perfect candidate for being a loyal and trusting friend.
Though her physical presence will no longer be visible, her kindred spirit will always be remembered and honored.

Christine was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Norris and sister, Willie B. Peterson.

She is survived by her mother, Ruby Norris of Bastrop, LA; four brothers, George Norris (Delores) of American Canyon, CA, Dr. Jack Norris (Adrienne) of Denton, Tx., Herman Norris (OFear) of Fort Worth, Tx. and DeWayne Peterson (Donna) of Denton, Tx.; three sisters, Donnie Norris and Billie Bland (Clarence) of Lake Jackson and Alice Robinson (Charles) of Bastrop, LA.; and a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

James Barry Burnett

Funeral services for James Barry Burnett, 64, of Brazoria will be Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Huntsville, TX with Rev. Arthur Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

He died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Brazosport Regional Health Systems in Lake Jackson, TX.

He was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. church in West Columbia, TX and was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville, TX. As President of West Brazos Titans Football Team, he enjoyed being involved in community activities. His favorite hobbies were fishing, gardening and cooking. James was a family oriented man and he extended a helping hand to family members and friends. He was never without a hat and a smile.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Brown and Lillie Burnett, brothers, Brown Ross Burnett and Ray Black Burnett.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Debra Moore Burnett of Brazoria; son, James Barry Robinson (Cynthia) of Tomball TX; 4 daughters, Kim Easton of L.J., Andrea Ware (Hall), Natalie Pickens (Clyde) and Cherry Pierott (Todd) all of Houston; 2 brothers, William Burnett (Pam) of Huntsville and Norris Burnett of the Woodlands; 6 sisters, Marie Lyons, Barbara Wiggins, Earlie Mae Burnett, Helen Burnett, all of Houston, Claudie White of Huntsville, TX and Lucille August (George) of Missouri City; father-in-law, Joseph “Sonny” Moore Sr. (Alice) of Brazoria; 2 brother-in-laws, Nate Moore Sr (Evelyn) of L.J. and Joseph Moore Jr of Richwood; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Willie "W.A." Hobbs

Funeral services for Willie “WA” Hobbs, 73, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Freeport, will be Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church in Clute with the Rev. Gloria Cash officiating.

Burial will be in Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Brazoria.

He died February 27, 2008, at University Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.

He graduated from R. O’Hara Lanier High School and attended Prairie View A&M University. He was an avid traveler, including trips to Jerusalem and the Bahamas.

He is survived by two brothers, Horace L. Hobbs and Leon Hobbs, both of California; three aunts, Vermon Harris of Freeport, Anna Pearl Giles of Bastrop and Williane Loggins of Snyder; four uncles, Percy Walker (Alice Faye), David Walker, all of Freeport, Archie Walker (Teresa) of Angleton and James Walker (Frances) of Houston; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Roy Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Larry D. Moses, James M. Walker, David E. Walker and Percy Walker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Bates, T.J. Watson, Horace L. Hobbs and Leon Hobbs.

Stephen Henry Moorhead
February 23, 2008

Funeral services for Stephen Henry Moorhead, 45 of Angleton will be Thursday, February 28, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Angleton, with Pastor Gary Moon officiating.

He died Saturday, February 23, 2008. He was a member of the Sandy Point Bible Church, in Sandy Point, Texas. Steve loved his children and loved to work. He will be missed.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Janis Moorhead and son, Aaron Harold Moorhead; and his step mother, Nancy Moorhead.

Stephen was raised in the Medicine Lodge in Pratt, Kansas area and then relocated to Topeka, Kansas and Wichita, Kansas. He left Wichita, Kansas in October of 2007 to relocate to be near his three minor children in Angleton.

He is survived by his sons, Alex Lee Moorhead and Andrew Dale Moorhead of Angleton; daughter, Mirisa Marie Moorhead of Angleton; five sisters, Denise Sutton (Larry) of Haviland, Kansas, Dawna Moorhead of Pratt, Kansas, Debbie Jackson (Dan) of Minnesota, Kim Roland (Dewayne) of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Kelly Horton (Davie) of Missouri; in addition to numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 28, 2008, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Angleton.

Leola Marshall
February 22, 2008

Funeral services for Leola Marshall, 88 of Brazoria will be Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Mt. Zion Church in Brazoria with Elder Roland K. Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Memorial Cemetery in Brazoria, Texas.

She died Friday, February 22, 2008 at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson, Texas. Leola was a very loyal and dedicated member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. She served many years as president of the Deacon Wives, a choir member and very active in mission and Sunday School. Recently she united with Greater Mt. Zion Church where she served as a prayer warrior on the intercessory ministry and attended Sunday School regularly.

Leola was preceded in death by her husband, George Marshall of 65 wonderful years, parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bonner, brother, Arthur Bonne, sisters, Georgia Woodard, Lupie Randon and Isabella Woodard and oldest son, Rev. Robert George Marshall.

She leaves to mourn and to cherish four daughters, Bobbie Gee (Johnny) of Houston, Helen Parker (Robert) of Missouri City, Linda Marshall and Jo Ann Marshall both of Brazoria, three sons, Lee Otis Marshall, Sr. (Vivian) of Houston, James Marshall, Sr. (Ruby) of Freeport and Minister Donald Marshall, Sr. (Beverly) of Manvel, daughter-in-law, Christine Marshall of Houston, two brother-in-laws, David Marshall (Christie) of Freeport and Randolph Randon of Brazoria, twenty grandchildren, twenty- one great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Active pallbearers will be Willie Bell, Jr., Johnny Bell, Randolph Randon, Jr., Robert Jammer, Howard Ross, Sr., Sam Goodwin, Melvin Woodard and Warwick Woodard.

Wesley Bell Polk
February 21, 2008

Wesley Bell Polk, 88, of West Columbia passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Sweeny House in Sweeny, Texas.

She was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Gonzales, Texas to Jesse L. and Emma Woodard. She married Sammie Polk and they bore two children, Ruby and Sammie L.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie; daughter, Ruby; and her siblings, Jesse, Henry, Frank, Fate, Jim, Nina, Gladys and Lee Woodard, she being the last to pass.

She dedicated her life to God and was baptized May 4, 1984. She shared in public ministry, sharing the Good News of Jehovah God’s Kingdom and about his son, Jesus Christ. She looked forward to the time when no one would have to say, “I’m sick” or have to pass away in death. She also knew and looked forward to the time when there would be a resurrection of those who happen to fall asleep in death.

She is survived by her son, Sammie L. Polk and wife, Bobbie, of West Columbia; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria with Marshall Whitley, officiating. Burial will be in West Columbia Paradise Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Brazoria.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Washington, Aaron Lewis, Gordon Ray Johnson, Lorenzo Johnson, Jessie Anderson and Robert “Bob” Williams.
